• Stitches for Charlie

    Quick Overview

DVD on how and why The Prestonpans Tapestry was created.   Eric Robinson filmed both artist and stitchers as they created the world's longest embroidered tapestry at 104 metres.  This astonishing work of community art was inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry to describe the Hope and Ambition captured in the romance and myth of Bonnie Prince Charlie as he led the Highlanders to an astonishing Victory at Prestonpans on September 21st 1745.

Over 200 volunteer embroiderers across the Highlands, the Lowlands, Frnace and beyond made over 10 million stitches taking more than 25,000 hours.  The film tells the family  tales of those involved, and in particular why they wanted to volunteer.  It also tells how this magnificent project was led and managed to incredible success by Artist Andrew Crummy and Lead Stitcher Dorie Wilkie in just nine months.
